Edwards Promoted to Director of Architecture

July 22, 2026

Cromwell is proud to announce the promotion of Corey Edwards, AIA, to Director of Architecture.

In his new role, Corey will provide leadership for the firm’s architectural practice, guiding design excellence, mentoring architectural staff, and collaborating with executive leadership to shape the strategic direction of the department. His promotion reflects nearly two decades of dedication to Cromwell, a passion for thoughtful design, and a commitment to advancing the profession of architecture.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, Corey joined Cromwell 17 years ago after returning to Central Arkansas, where he has built his career serving communities throughout the state and across the country. He has become an integral member of the firm’s architectural leadership, known for his collaborative approach, technical expertise, and ability to bring complex projects from concept through construction.

Throughout his career, Corey has developed an extensive portfolio spanning projects of all sizes and complexities. His work reflects a deep appreciation for architecture’s ability to strengthen communities while respecting the history, culture, and character of each place.

As both a project architect and project manager, Corey has led multidisciplinary teams through every phase of design. His responsibilities have included developing design concepts, coordinating consultants, producing construction documents, preparing presentation renderings, and guiding projects through construction. His ability to balance creative vision with technical precision has earned the confidence of clients, consultants, and colleagues alike.

While Corey is widely respected for his project experience, his influence extends far beyond the buildings he has helped design.

He has become one of the firm’s strongest advocates for innovation, continuous learning, and emerging technology. Recognizing the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance—not replace—the design process, Corey has helped lead Cromwell’s adoption of AI as a strategic design and visualization tool. His efforts have encouraged architects to embrace new technologies that improve efficiency, expand creativity, and allow teams to spend more time focused on solving client challenges.

Equally important has been his commitment to developing the next generation of architects. Corey established the Architecture Department’s weekly Design Labs, creating a dedicated forum where team members share ideas, explore design challenges, review projects, and learn from one another. He also serves as the department’s lead facilitator for architectural training sessions, helping young professionals develop both technical skills and confidence as designers.

His leadership reflects a belief that great architecture is built not only through great projects, but through investing in people.

“Corey’s proven leadership in design excellence, team development, and community engagement makes him a natural choice for this role,” said Chris East, Principal at Cromwell. ” His passion for creating inspiring design solutions for our clients and his commitment to the improvement of Cromwell will strengthen our architectural department and the work we deliver.”

As Director of Architecture, Corey will oversee the firm’s architectural staff, promote design excellence across all markets, and help establish the creative vision for future projects. He will continue fostering collaboration between architecture, engineering, and interior design while supporting the firm’s long-term strategic initiatives and commitment to innovation.

His promotion comes at an exciting time for Cromwell as the firm continues to expand its presence across numerous markets. Corey will play a key role in ensuring that every project reflects the firm’s commitment to thoughtful design, technical excellence, and exceptional client service.

Please join us in congratulating Corey Edwards on his promotion to Director of Architecture. We look forward to the leadership, innovation, and vision he will continue to bring to Cromwell Architects Engineers for years to come.
