Advanced Orthopaedic Specialists came to Cromwell following a recommendation from another organization in the healthcare community, showing the strength of Cromwell’s relationships with past clients. The building was planned to house an ASC with a fixed amount of space available. Cromwell worked with the client to make priority decisions for the limited space and find a balance between the number of operating rooms the space could accomodate and the beds needed to support them. to issues that arose during the project.

The plan called for four operating rooms and 15 recovery rooms, three of which would be suited to overnight stays despite being outpatient rooms, and therefore meant to be occupied for no longer than 24 hours. Due to budgetary concerns, the fourth operating room was set up as shell space and all of the necessary infrastructure was installed to minimize the impact of a future buildout. This saved the client significantly on costs, while making it possible to easily develop the space at a later date.

Cromwell designed the waiting area for the center with a high level of finish and comfort in mind waiting, while ensuring that all other spaces were provided with the necessary finishes to meet the requirements of a sterile environment. Cromwell further assisted the client with through certification process. With the exception of supply-chain related issues, the project remained overall on schedule and on budget.
