Position Purpose

The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for significant project activities. Assists Architects in master planning in the interior designing and furnishings of commercial buildings. May serve as Project Manager or Project Coordinator on a project team with interior design focus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs conceptual designs to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Performs quality control (QC) review of project documents.
  • Negotiate fees and prepare proposals for new projects.
  • Coordinates construction completion duties such as punch lists and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for establishing clients contact and maintaining client relationships, including project follow-up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provides clients with liaison to regulatory agencies.
  • Mentors other Interior Designers by providing timely feedback on performance and guidance to ensure their career growth.
  • Provides business development department with information on possible future projects with assigned clients and participates in proposal and interview process.
  • Coordinates during construction with manufacturers, contractors, vendors and makes field observations during construction and reviews construction submittals.
  • Understands all jurisdictional requirements, codes and regulations, and ability to coordinate with officials and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Tracks and submits budgets and progress reports for assigned projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Travel: 20%

Competencies

  • Must be self-motivated and a high performer that can manage multiple projects.
  • Advanced in Revit, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Efficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience in managing and leading project teams, including multi-disciplined design teams for coordinating with Architects, interior Design, Structure, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers; understanding their needs and requirements to provide support for facility design.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present ideas and collaborate with team members and clients.
  • Time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications / Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited program.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Commercial interior design and production of construction documentation
  • NCIDQ Certified
  • State Registration
  • ASID Professional Membership
  • Portfolio of a range of commercial projects requested.

The job is potentially subject to U.S. export control restrictions under ITAR and that employment in the job is subject to verifying the applicant’s status as a US person.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Prolonged period of sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Exposure to outside elements when on location site.
