Cromwell re-purposed the existing Mitsubishi plant in Fort Smith, Arkansas to house an air-laid materials production line for Glatfelter Products USA. This new Glatfelter facility supplies products to a variety of customers, including those who support baby and personal care wipes. The facility handles the transformation of raw materials into mass rolls of paper which they slit into custom widths for use by various companies in the disposable wipes industry.
Production operations that are at an increased risk for fire or explosion are enclosed in specially reinforced areas. The building is sprinkled throughout. An back up generator was installed to supply power to the electric fire pump and other critical equipment in case of emergency.
The design was based on a facility assessment done by Cromwell and working with the owner and their vendors.
