Cromwell provided civil and structural engineering for the adaptive reuse and conversion of the historic Hall-Davidson Building into an AC Hotel by Marriott. Located in downtown Little Rock’s original financial district, the project is part of the revitalization of downtown and will help bring new life to the area.

The new AC Hotel is located within the historic five-story Hall and three-story Davidson buildings. The Hall building was built in 1923 and the Davidson annex was added in 1947. Both buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. Hotel amenities include a bar, buffet, lounge, media salon, fitness center, and 114 guestrooms.

The renovation included updates to the existing elevator shafts and mechanical penthouse, structural alterations to modernize the existing, non-functioning elevators, and the addition of a traction elevator. Two new stairwells were added and steel framing was provided to support the new stairs and floor. Additional chases were designed in the floors to allow for the placement of new utilities. Civil engineering work included boundary street improvements, updated drainage and storm pipe materials, and the addition of new ADA access ramps.
