One of the central focuses of the design revolved around the gym space. It was a major concern of Arkansas Heart Hospital to be able to monitor the exercise space since most of the patients come to the center shortly after major surgery. With this in mind, a centralized observation point allows trainers direct line of sight in all directions.
The client was particularly concerned with sound and vibration disturbing other users on floors below. In order to address this, two levels of sound absorbing rubber padding were installed under the flooring and the free weight area received a thicker pad. Durable materials were used throughout and included sheet rubber and vinyl plank flooring, high pressure laminate, and 100% Silicone fabric for patient seating.
