Position Purpose
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform calculations and design fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety systems
- Prepare specifications based on design
- Review design drawings in relation to plans and specifications
- Analyze potential fire hazards in buildings and new designs providing recommendations
- Ensure all fire protections systems meet local, state, and federal fire codes and standards.
- Stay updated on fire safety technologies and techniques, conducting experiments and field tests to evaluate new systems and materials.
- Meet with owners and understand project requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Travel: 10%, to project sites for surveys and meetings.
Competencies
- Experience in Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including multi-disciplined design teams
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications / Prior Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in fire protection engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in fire protection design software and knowledge of building codes is essential.
- PE license preferred.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Prolonged period of sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer.
- Exposure to outside elements when on location site.
