Architecture: the art and science of designing the built environment.
Today's architects have a role that extends beyond innovative design. Our architectural staff demonstrates design and technical excellence, which allows them to lead the client in making realistic decisions. These talents are the basis for determining each specific system and assembly and their application into the design. This ensures the client an efficient, pace-setting project that is cost effective and economically feasible.

A successful facility is much more than good architectural design. Success is based on the resolution of complex solutions, with the application of the widest range of technical and aesthetic skills. Cromwell brings a full range of building and building-related experience to ensure that designs can be executed under the tightest cost constraints yet meet the functional needs of our clients.

Services include:
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Value Engineering
  • Life-Cycle Costing
  • Cost Analysis
  • Energy Analysis
  • Energy Audits
  • Design
  • Programming
  • Planning
  • Sustainable Design

Engineers provide the counterbalance to the creative vision of the architectural team working with the designers.  Our engineers provide the science behind how a building is put together.

All engineering disciplines are housed under one roof and work cohesively together, along with our architects, interior designers, and construction administrators.  This provides the client with more comprehensive and integrated whole building system design solutions.
Our talented engineering staff includes:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Fire Protection Engineering
  • Plumbing Design

Interior Design has been an important element in Cromwell's design services for decades. Our accredited and registered professionals are highly experienced in all types of buildings. Members of ASID who are also NCIDQ certificate holders work as an integral part of the design team, providing value-added services to all of Cromwell's projects.

In addition to their role on the core design team, Cromwell Interiors offers furniture, fixture, and accessory design and procurement services. Interior Design services include:
  • Programming
  • Space Planning
  • Consulting
  • Lighting Design
  • Specification of new furniture and equipment selection

Good master planning is more than good design. It is the resolution of complex problems in the built environment with the application of the widest range of technical and aesthetic skills. A master plan must be responsive to economic, real property, and engineering determinants, as well as the functional requirements of future growth. The master plan must balance and consider the cost impact of the plan, and allow for possible phasing so that work done today becomes a stable base for tomorrow's changing needs. The firm has a proven record of planning for medical, corporate, educational, recreational, and industrial development; and in a significant number of commissions, continues into implementation as Designer of Record.

In our quickly changing and unpredictable world, alternative delivery methods are often the most appropriate approach to design/construction project.  Design-Build offers speed of delivery, cost and quality control in an environment where team work is incredibly important.  Cromwell has been delivering projects, including almost every building type, in this manner across the country for nearly 30 years.

Prompt and reliable field oversight during construction is crucial to the success of any project. Without the presence of sound Construction Administration practices, even the best set of documents may fail to produce an excellent product. Cromwell's Construction team is balanced between designers and construction professionals to ensure the project is managed to exceed client expectations – from design to occupancy and beyond. Cromwell’s construction phase services include:
  • Coordinating and conducting pre-construction conferences
  • Site visits, progress meetings, and documentation
  • Geotechnical and structural testing procurement and review
  • Quality Assurance Plan preparation
  • Construction observation
  • Coordination and assistance in start-up and acceptance testing
  • Shop drawing review and approval
  • Review and processing of various documents required during construction
  • Review and verification of punch list items
  • Provide record (as-built) drawings and operation and maintenance documentation
  • Conduct one-year warranty inspections and other follow-up work

Cromwell believes that building "green" is building smart. Green buildings are based on a holistic, integrated process where all disciplines involved in the design, construction, operations and maintenance of a building work together early in the design process. Green building concepts are coordinated through our LEED Accredited Professionals to ensure the design and implementation of sustainable criteria as directed and requested by our clients. We examine each project using sustainable strategies from the conceptual phase and throughout the design process, with additional considerations given to construction requirements and operational efficiencies. Our goal, through the promotion of green buildings, is to develop environmentally responsible, healthy, and economically feasible projects for our clients.  We know that sustainability must be balanced with real world application to determine the value to each individual organization or client.
