Building Services

Energy Services

Our staff of seasoned engineers and certified sustainability accredited professionals can provide the experience and knowledge necessary to help make your facility more energy efficient. From Commissioning Services to Energy Audits, Cromwell Energy Services can provide a wide range of services to fit your needs.

Clients that utilize an energy services and management program generally save up to 30 percent on operational costs.

Although energy efficiency seems like the more expensive option in the short term when compared with conventional alternatives, utility bill savings over the life of the efficient product can fully offset the initial cost premium and yield an implicit return on investment for building owners, which makes for a strong reason to invest in energy efficiency today.

Building Envelope Commissioning

Building Envelope Commissioning ensures that the building’s exterior systems are constructed and perform as the design intends. Control of air and moisture through the envelope is vital to the life of the building and can result in significant financial benefits.

Building Monitoring Based Commissioning

Building Monitoring Based Commissioning (MBCx) is an evolution of the commissioning process and one that provides actionable information for system optimization on a continuous basis. Widely accepted as an industry best practice, MBCx solutions maintain a constant eye on your equipment by providing facilities staff with powerful tools to ensure peak performance.

Building Simulation + Energy Modeling

Energy modeling is the process of creating a virtual representation of a building and all of its components, with a strong focus on energy consumption, utility bills, and life cycle costs of various design options related to items such as lighting and HVAC. Energy modeling software is able to combine weather data with user inputs to perform hourly simulations of a building over the course of an entire year. This allows building owners to make informed decisions when evaluating new building designs or when considering a major renovation.

Building Systems Commissioning + Retro Commissioning

New construction commissioning is a quality focused process that ensures a new building is designed, built, operated, and maintained as the owner intends. The commissioning process begins during the pre-design phase and continues through construction, into the occupancy and operation of the building.

Retro commissioning (RCx) is a systematic process developed to evaluate, document, and improve the operation of base building systems. Applying a comprehensive RCx process can be a very cost-effective way to identify and implement measures to reduce energy consumption and energy cost while improving system operation and occupant comfort in existing buildings.

Energy Audits

Energy Audits help identify energy saving opportunities. Our services range from simple walk through audits, to comprehensive ASHRAE Level II and III audits. These services may also be combined with our retro commissioning and sustainability services.

Life Cycle Cost Analysis

Life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is a method for assessing the total cost of facility ownership. It considers all costs of acquiring, owning, and disposing of a building or building system. LCCA is especially useful when project alternatives that fulfill the same performance requirements, but differ with respect to initial costs and operating costs, have to be compared in order to select the one that maximizes net savings.

Measurement + Verification

Measurement and Verification, or M&V, is the process of quantifying savings from implementing energy conservations measures. The International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol provides guidance on specific procedures that help buyers, sellers, and financiers of energy projects to create a successful M&V plan.

Sustainability Services

Cromwell has experience in offering sustainability consulting and third party certification administration including LEED, Green Globes, High Performing Sustainable Building Guiding Principles, and other customized sustainable options. Let Cromwell Energy Services work with your team to see your sustainable goals obtained.

Utility Benchmarking

Building energy benchmarking is the comparison of whole-building energy use relative to a set of similar buildings. This allows building owners to see how well, or how poorly, their buildings are performing. This often serves as a first step to determine if additional energy efficiency services will be needed. By utilizing tools created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, we can compare your buildings against a national database.
