Kent Taylor, AIA
Director, Architectural
Kent is a 1981 graduate of the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture (where he was fortunate to study under the great Fay) and is a principal at Cromwell. After a year working in Tulsa, Kent started at Cromwell in August of 1982, ten days before he and his wife, Amy, were married. They moved to Little Rock on their honeymoon!
An Arkansas licensed architect and AIA member since 1984, Kent's career has included a wide range of building types in many states, including office buildings, churches, and research facilities. A great many of his projects have included renovation of existing buildings, including several historic landmarks. His service includes many years leading the repair and renovation of Federal Government buildings managed by the GSA, in Arkansas and surrounding states. His GSA and renovation experience developed into an expertise in analyzing many types of buildings prior to purchase or major investments (typically termed Building Engineering Reports).
Over the last 15 years, Healthcare design has become Kent's passion and the majority of his practice. He directs a substantial part of Cromwell's Healthcare business, and personally manages several healthcare clients, including all of the designs for Arkansas Children's Hospital - accounted by some as one of the top 10 children's hospital in the US - since the '90s, including their PICU, recognized as the best in the nation in 2002.
An early advocate of the ADA, Kent is Cromwell's expert on Accessibility issues. His colleagues seek him out for solutions to complex problems. He also takes great joy in helping develop the careers of junior architects.
A graduate of the Inaugural Class of Leadership Little Rock and a strong believer in serving the local community, Kent is also a proud Member of Rotary Club 99 of Little Rock - the seventh largest Rotary Club in the world! He chairs Board positions for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the local Boy Scout district.
Kent and his family are members of Calvary Baptist Church where he is a Deacon and has served in many roles. In his spare time, he coaxes what must be the world's most expensive herbs & tomatoes out of his rocky hilltop. Kent loves trees, the beach, studying history and tales of the sea.
